My first first-author publication!

Thrilled that my very first publication as a first author is out, and open access! This article is based on my undergraduate thesis research done at National University of Singapore back in 2019/2020, under the supervision of the wonderful Dr. Iliana Magiati.

This project was my first real venture into research. I had done smaller-scale research studies before, but this was the first project I was (almost) solely in charge of.

I’m very grateful to Iliana for taking me on as a student that year. I was one of her three Honours supervisees out of the 12+ who had applied. Iliana was a fantastic supervisor, and there are many valuable lessons and skills that I’ve gained from working with her. This was an unforgettable experience, especially because it kickstarted my journey as an autism researcher.

I’m fortunate to have had a supervisor who believed in the importance of this research and its value as an academic publication, even through the numerous rounds of rejections/revisions (which also prepared me well for academia in general!). This research, and publication, wouldn’t have been possible without Iliana’s support.

Many thanks to my co-authors, especially Shawn, who also consulted on the project and has co-presented its findings with me previously; and Steven, through whom the article is open access.
